Creative Competitions By Palm Portraits.

I found this very creative photography competition organized by Palm Portraits from The Star newspaper. This competition is really creative where it allows the public to utilize their hidden talent to come out with a unique and creative photos captured from their daily life, in a condition that the photos is related to palm oil. 

I believe there are lots of things that we encounter daily involves with palm oil. Even the soap bar that we used to bath everyday is made from the raw material of palm oil. Lets looks at a scenario here, after taking a shower early in the morning before going to work, we already involved with palm oil like what I said earlier, the soap bar. After done shower and prepare out for work, we mostly will go for a breakfast first before we reach our office or college for student rite? Let say, you take roti canai (a famous food in Malaysia) this morning, don’t you think it involved with palm oil indirectly? The mamak fellows who make the roti canai using the vegetable oil produced from palm oil. Could you imagine that?

Palm oil involved in most of our daily activities, the products that could be made from palm oil not only involved foods, it also involved the fuel, our personal care products, and other miscellaneous products as well.

I was shocked to see the competition because the first thing that comes to my mind when looking at the competition on the newspaper is not only the palm oil tree itself, because it is pretty hard to find an oil palm tree in a city, but what I could imagine is palm oil actually do exists around us all the time, just that it appear in another form rather than the natural tree itself.

Floating

Defy gravity! Create an illusion of “floating” people and objects by capturing motions in mid-air.

Steps:

• Step 1:
  Get your props ready, and remember to change your camera setting to “continuous shooting” so that you can capture the entire jump sequence.
  
• Step 2:
  Jump up, but maintain a calm posture. Try techniques such as tilting your feet upwards or keeping your arms close to the body. One thing to avoid is blurry legs, so set your shutter speed to be at least 1/250 seconds.
  
• Step 3:
  Have fun and be creative! Try different postures and environment, and have fun capturing that perfect frozen motion.

Tips: With Nikon 1’s ultra fast auto-focusing and continuous shooting capabilities, you will be able to capture crystal-clear floating shots for the entire jump sequence, so finding the perfect image will be a click.

Planking

Be part of the planking phenomenon, where images of people lying face down on the ground in unusual locations.

  Choose an unique location to plank. An interesting environment is the key to a successful planking shot.
  
• Step 2:
  Lie face down and keep your body as flat as possible. Be sure to keep your arms by your side and legs straight.
  
• Step 3:
